![]() For Tampa Bay foodies and beyond, excitement is building around the 3rd Annual National Cuban Sandwich Festival that will be held in Ybor City in Tampa from Saturday, March 22nd thru Sunday, March 23rd 2014. The festival is in its 3rd year now and last year according to CBS Television over 20,000 people attended, breaking a record. If you are not familiar with Cuban Sandwiches, well you never really visited Tampa before, have you?. It is a true Tampa staple. Some say it is the official sandwich of Tampa. Cuban Sandwiches are full of tradition and have become a cultural food icon among the Latin community in Florida. The recipe has been passed down from generation to generation untouched. Made with freshly baked Cuban bread from some of our best local bakeries and toasted in a sandwich press like a “Panini”, a traditional Cuban sandwich is made with pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, mayo and mustard. Yummy! It tastes delicious! The festival is a cultural affair, not only are you going to be able to buy food from some of the best food vendors in Tampa Bay, but there will also be Art and Cultural exhibitors, live music, dancing and more. Celebrity judges will be judging the contest for the best traditional Cuban sandwich and for the best non-traditional Cuban sandwich. The event will held over two days and on the second day the world’s largest Cuban sandwich will be created, you don’t want to miss that!!. The best part about the event is that it is FREE! Yes! FREE to attend. We hope to see you foodies and especially the Cuban sandwich aficionados at the festival this year. Have you attended the festival before?
